Holiday time

What a lovely time we have had for the past 2 weeks. Ians mum Eileen and our 12 year old niece Jenny have been with us. The weather for the entire 2 weeks (apart from 1 day) was roasting hot with temperatures in our garden reaching 38 degrees. Needless to say we have been in the pool almost constantly.

It was too hot to go on day trips, we would have just roasted, and in any case, Jenny didn't want to stray far from the pool!

Jenny and I went to my friend Maggie's for the day on Friday and made fabulous padded hearts for hanging. We had such a good time sewing and chatting. We had a day shopping in Limoges and an afternoon at a place called Tarz en Arbre. I'll post some photos of this, because a description doesn't do it justice. Basically it is a woodland area with zip lines and and cables suspended between trees at varying heights. You wear a harness and are clipped to the lines at all times. There is a route to follow and you negotiate you way around the course. There are five different levels and heights. White and green are for young children and to practice on. They are about 2-3 metres off the ground. Blue is higher and the highest one Jenny was allowed to go on. This must have been about 3-4 metres off the ground. Then comes red and finally the black. These are really high (almost tree top). The zip lines on the red run must have been 300 metres long and go down a hill!! There are cargo nets in the trees for you to swing onto like Tarzan. Well worth going to.

I've always wanted to do this but when I read the requirements for health and body - I fail. Bad back - bad knees - bad hands - you name it. The Man is disqualified too because he's too heavy. He's happy about that tho.

Hi Debs, It sounds as though you had a fantastic time and how lovely for Ian's mum to come out. You will have to post some piccies of everyone in the pool. Lovely to hear from you again.

Sounded really lovely.
At least you have had a good summer which is more than I can say. Disappointing weather in England.

Hi Aims, Ian and Jenny loved it and Jenny would have spent all day on it! I might have a go later in the year.
Hi Hazel, It has been great to have them out here and for a whole 2 weeks as well. I am so lucky to have a fantastic mother in law, and Jenny is wonderful company.

Hi Maggie May, we have had a wonderful summer here. High temperatures all the time. We have had a couple of good overnight storms which have cleared the air, then back to sunny days.

Hi Andrea. The adventure place is called Tarz en Arbre and it is at Lac Uzurat in Limoges. It is 2 mins off of the A20 if you come of at junction 30. It cost 32 euros for 1 adult and 1 child. There is parking there and a little snack shop. If we go again we would go for longer and maybe do lower levels in the morning, take a picnic and sit by the lake and then do more in the afternoon. Well worth going to.
