New chicken

I only went to do someone's hair and I came home with a chicken! No, it wasn't in part payment, I got paid as well.
The new chicken is female and I have named her Amber. She is small and very soft and cuddly. Well, she probably isn't at all cuddly but I pick her up and cuddle her when I open the coup in the morning! She seems to have settled in well, and even escaped the amorous attention of the black cockerel this morning.

Never thought I'd be saying this - but she's pretty cute - for a chicken.

She even blends in very well with the leaves. I imagine picking up their little bodies is quite a treasure.

Good payment for cutting hair. I only gave mine $25 yesterday for a quick buzz! Never thought of giving her a chicken.

Hi aims and maggie, she is such a sweetie. When I go and unlock their shed in the morning to let them into the garden, I always give the little one a cuddle. Will check out the link :-)

Here you are, then! Just popped over, by chance and I see you've been secretly blogging. Glad you're OK. I was beginning to wonder. Great chicken photo. I can only imagine what it might be like to cuddle a chicken. Soft and squawky, I should think.

Hi Mean Mom, chickens are soft and warm, but quite bony in spite of all their feathers. This little is very round to hold. Her little feet are very feathery as well, just like our Silkies and the black Bantams, which makes her look even more cute.

Hi MOB, I hadn't thought of it like that, but you are right! Nice tip eh? Nice to be blogging again, I just hadn't been inspired to write anything or done anything worth writing about. :-)

Hi there!
Beautiful chicken! I've often considered keeping chickens myself, I have the space although the stories of all the rats puts me off... but I think one day I may get some.
All the best! - Any idea if Debs Lehner is up and blogging again?

Hi Brit, we have never had any vermin problems with our chooks. The are lovely to have, ours are just wandering around the garden. They eat all our left over food and give us lovely eggs in return. Debs Lehner hasn't blogged since 19th Oct. Thanks for visitng :-)

Love the chicken - we've acquired some bantams with our new place. Will have to do photos.

Oh how I wish I had a chicken! Or a duck. Here in the city, we are not allowed...

All the best for your new pet!
