This is your 5.45am alarm call!

Picture the scene .....

A hot, humid night. All the windows open, not a breath of air anwhere. Tossing and turning all night trying to find a cool spot on the bed and the pillow. Then just as you doze off at 3am, the cats decide to have a karaoke party outside the bedroom window. With the party moved on you, you setle back to try and go to sleep. Then at 5.45am the geese our on the herb bed outside the bedoom window tapping their beaks on a ceramic mushroom!! Little gits! It was just like they were ringing for room service - 'Come on, we're up where's our breakfast? Our paddling pools need cleaning as well. Come on the chickens will be up soon!'

Roast goose is looking more likely everyday.

Oh Debra, surely they have got to get better. Perhaps I won't consider getting geese. My friend has Indian Runners and I would love a couple of those. Good for gobbling up the slugs.

I do love having them, they are real characters especially Gertie. None of our chooks or geese eat slugs, the geese are to full on my plants, but they eat loads of grass so are very lawnmowers.

They do poo alot, I wouldn't say it is bigger that a dogs, more like a cats poo. But there is more of it. On the plus side is doesn't smell and as it is all grass it can go straight on the compost heap. xx

Know what you mean - that was the night we slept with just quilt cover - bliss. Put the quilt back in today as it's been cold ever since. Our chickens start at 5.30 a.m. also, get back to sleep at 6.30 and then can't wake up!

They certainly do get you up early - but you obviously love them anyway! M xx
